Crosshaven Challenge Saturday 18.09.2010
Preparations are under way for the 8th Crosshaven Challenge with sponsors Locozade Sport & Centra all thankfully back on board. A lot of credit is due to our sponsors considering the currently financial problems being experienced nationally. Organiser Bernard Lynch, speaking recently in Crosshaven, said "We are delighted to announce that once again the Crosshaven Challenege 2010 will take place on Saturday the 18th of September at 3pm with a couple of new ideas being touted for the event. I'm also delighted that our main sponsors have decided to stick with us and we look forward to making the 8th Crosshaven Challenge the best one yet!".
Again this years triathlon will be both a competitive event and a fun day out and will cater for individuals as well as teams following the success of last year and in line with the current recession enterance fees are greatly reduced.
Each team for the 2010 Crosshaven Challenge will consist of three members - one swimmer, one cyclist and one runner. Individual Entry is available this year. Individuals will compete in all three events.
Entry fee per team of three is €300. For Individual Entry the fee is €100. Entries this year are on a first come first served basis but five team places will be reserved specifically for Crosshaven and local area community groups. Sponsorship packs are already available so if you want to be a headstart contact Suzie Lee on 087/748.52.61 and she'll get a pack out to you.
The challenge is a fundraising event and the aim is to raise €15,000 for local projects within the Crosshaven area. Benficiaries of the 2010 Crosshaven Challenge are Fort Meagher (Camden) Restoration Fund, Crosshaven AFC (Soccer Club) and Crosshaven Tidy Towns.
Garda Cósta na hÉireann - the Irish Coastguard will monitor the swim, they will be assisted by the RNLI. The Gardaí, Civil Defence and local stewards will monitor the 10Km cycle and 5Km run. St Johns Ambulance will also be in attendance. A big thanks to all these voluntary organisations who help make this event run so smoothly.
Do you wish to participate in the 2010 Challenge as a Team Member BUT don't know others to form or join a three person team? well maybe we can help.
